Garry Andrews worked with Flying Arts in 1998 in two capacities, the first as a tutor at the annual Visual Arts Experience Week (VAEW) the organisation runs for students from throughout the state, the second as a visiting artist to adult community groups in the central Queensland region. Garry impressed from the beginning with his thorough preparation and presentation and his ability to adapt to constantly changing requests from his 43 students enrolling in VAEW and to the different dynamics of centre within the Tour Program. He is very thoughtful and caring as a teacher/mentor and, from an administrative point of view, extremely professional and reliable. I would not hesitate to employ Garry again in any position which suited his particular artistic strengths and teaching abilities.
CEO Flying Arts inc.
I ran my own Multi-faceted Design based company in Cairns for about five years...In my role as director, I relied heavily on Garry's considerable knowledge , expertise and ability to produce a variety of illustrative works. These would typically include Logo's Brochure designs, Advertisements and of course, dozens of stunning T-shirt designs. It is perhaps talent enough to be able to visualise, present and render illustrative works to such a high standard. It is exceptional however, to have such a thorough understanding of each and every process involved in the production of these items-And it is this flawless knowledge that compliments Garry's unique offer and professional attitude as both Graphic Artist and Illustrator. His teaching and mentoring skills enable him to gain respect whilst nurturing students or junior staff. He is clearly focussed and capable of achieving in some of the most demanding studio environments.

Garry Andrews worked as a facilitator on a residential Arts camp in February of this year. Garry was able to communicate and advise students in terms that they were readily able to understand, effectively helping them to resolve aesthetic problems. While he carefully structured activities he remained very flexible to allow for a process of systematic discovery. Students were supported in their own vision and individual direction. The students and staff enjoyed Garry's calm supportive presence and gained significantly from the experience of working with him.
Arts Coordinator, Clairvaux MacKillop College
In a project management role, Garry has complied with often tight timeframe requirements and taken responsibility for all stages of the production process of various promotional material and journal cover designs. In my opinion Garry is a very capable graphic designer and I have no hesitation in recommending him for future freelance work with this unit or as a prospective employee elsewhere.
